Rapid prototyping in Amsterdam: from idea to part

Rapid prototyping for product designers, engineers and start-ups. Upload a model and have a 3D printed prototype in 3 to 5 business days, from engineers who think along.

BEST FOR

Fit, function and durability tests

Concept models to check a shape, then functional prototypes in the right material. Several iterations on one plate is the quickest, cheapest way to test.

LESS SUITABLE

Thousands of parts per run

Prototyping is not mass production. Past about 500 to 1000 units per run, injection moulding usually wins.

Small-batch printing

ALTERNATIVE

No 3D file yet

Start from a sketch or reference image. We model it for you, billed hourly and agreed before work starts.

Prototypes in days, not weeks

Standard orders ship within 3 to 5 business days. Rush orders ship within 2, with the surcharge shown in your quote. You get the price when you upload the file, not after a round of emails.

It is rapid prototyping in Amsterdam with the people who run the machines. We review every order before printing and confirm within one business day.

Concept prototype, functional prototype, pre-series: which stage are you at?

A typical path has three steps.

  • Concept prototype: a quick, low-cost print to check the shape and the idea.
  • Functional prototype: a refined version in the right material, to test fit, function and durability.
  • Small batch: a few units to a few hundred, while the design may still change.

Each stage asks for a different material and sometimes a different process. We help you choose, so you do not pay for more than the stage needs.

Pick the process: FDM, SLS or SLA

ProcessChoose it for
FDMMost prototypes. Fast, low cost, parts up to 500 × 500 × 500 mm.
SLSStrong nylon parts, moving assemblies, no support marks.
SLASmooth surfaces, fine detail, clear parts up to 192 × 120 × 250 mm.

Details: FDM, SLS, SLA.

Pick the material

PLA or PETG covers most prototypes at the best price. For heat, look at PETG, ABS or ASA. Outdoors, ASA. For flex, TPU. For high stress or wear, nylon via SLS. For fine detail and a smooth surface, SLA resin.

All options, side by side, in the materials guide.

No 3D file yet? We can model it

Bring a sketch, a reference image or a rough concept. We take it to a printable 3D model. Design work is billed hourly, agreed before we start, and shown as a separate line on your quote.

Already have a design that was made for injection moulding or CNC? We review it for printing and suggest changes.

Design for 3D printing: avoid the second iteration

Wall thickness, overhangs, tolerances and print orientation are easiest to fix before the first print. We check them for you, or design from scratch with the process in mind. Need a tight fit? Print a small test piece first, then the full part.

Fastening matters too. Brass heat-set inserts and screw bosses hold better than threads printed in plastic. Rules per process are in our design guides.

From prototype to small batch to production

When the prototype works, the same file can go into a small batch. Printing needs no tooling, so you can still change the design between runs, and we can set up a standing arrangement for reorders. When volumes grow, we advise on injection moulding, tooling cost and suppliers.

See small-batch 3D printing. Need a trade show piece or investor demo? We also print display stands, mounts and packaging inserts that make a prototype look production-ready.

Price, lead time and shipping

We price by weight. Setup fee once per technology, a handling fee per part, failed prints on us. See how it adds up on the pricing page. Pickup in Amsterdam is free, see 3D printing in Amsterdam. Otherwise we ship with PostNL.

Frequently asked questions

Upload an STL, 3MF or OBJ file (up to 50 MB) to our quote tool and you see the price straight away. Have a STEP file? Email it and we quote by hand. Accept the quote, pay, and we print, post-process and ship. Standard lead time is 3 to 5 business days.

Standard orders ship within 3 to 5 business days after order confirmation. Rush orders ship within 2 business days, with a surcharge shown in your quote. Actual print time depends on size and complexity, and the quote tool estimates it automatically when you upload.

We price by the weight of the finished print. The quote adds material cost, machine time, a setup fee once per technology and a handling fee per part. Failed prints are on us. The exact price appears when you upload your model, and the current rates are on our pricing page.

Yes. We go from a sketch, reference image or rough concept to a printable 3D model. Design work is billed by the hour, agreed before we start, and listed as a separate line on the quote. Tell us what you are building and we agree an approach.

PLA or PETG covers most prototypes at the best price. Choose PETG, ABS or ASA for heat, ASA for outdoors, TPU for flex, nylon via SLS for high stress or wear, and SLA resin for fine detail and smooth surfaces. Unsure? Send the model and we advise.

Yes. Printing suits batches of one to a few hundred units, with no tooling cost and room for design changes between runs. For recurring runs we can set up a standing arrangement so you can reorder quickly. Beyond roughly 500 to 1000 units per run we help you prepare for injection moulding.
